Keep your Guests Entertained with these Bridal Shower Games
When it comes to hosting a bridal shower, bridesmaids are under pressure to ensure they host a gathering that not only fulfills its main requirement of getting everyone together to celebrate the brides impending nuptials but also to keep things fun.  In some cases bridal showers are one of the very few occasions when both the bride and grooms families come together which means there will need to be some ice breakers. Enter group games and activities.
One of the easiest and most common games you can organize is to divide your shower attendees into teams. Once finalized get every team to nominate a ‘bride’ from within their group. The other team members will then create a wedding gown for their ‘bride’ using only rolls of toilet paper within a restricted time period, we recommend 10-15 minutes.  The real bride will then judge her favorite dress.
Another game that you can play for the course of the shower is to select certain words such as ‘wedding’ or ‘bride’ that all guests are restricted from saying. Each guest will receive a clothes pin at the beginning of the day which should be pegged to their clothes for the entirety of the party. Then if one guest hears another say one of the buzz words, that guest is allowed to take the guests pin. The person who has the most pins at the end of the party is eventually deemed the winner of the game.
A more subdued game for guests to play is to hold a quiz.  The questions of the quiz could be tailored to be specifically about the bride or focus in on the bridal couple. Questions you might like to ask could be ‘Where did the couple meet’ or ‘Where was their first date’. As a group everyone can then go through the questions with the bride providing the answers. Holding a quiz is a great way to keep things interesting while guests take some time out to mingle and eat.
The quiz could also be altered to include the bride by having the groom answer a series of questions about the bride, himself and their relationship prior to the shower. The questions can be as random and quirky as you like. The bride and guests then have to guess his answers. To spice things up why not get the bride to take a shot for every answer she gets wrong. There is however quite a few other ways you can ‘punish’ your bride without getting her intoxicated such as making her eat something.
Another variation on the quiz is to have each guest write down three stories or facts that involve them and the bridal couple, two of them true and one completely made up. Each guest will then take it in turns to share their stories or facts with the group and have everyone write down which they think is the false story. The guest at the end who has guessed the most correct false stories is the winner.
You can also play a game of he says/she says by presenting guests with quotes from the bridal couple that have been noted down over the past few months and then have guests guess whether the quotes comes from the bride or groom. A clever way to do this is to have guests hold up signs for who they think it is, with whoever gets the answer wrong knocked out until there is only one winner left.
Another simple activity to organize is to compile a selection of photos of the bride throughout her life and have guests guess what age the bride is in the photo and for bonus points where the photo was taken.  With the winner obviously being the person who guesses the most correct ages.
Depending on your budget you can choose whether to have prizes for the winners. The prize could be something as simple as a lolly bag or a box of chocolates nothing too extravagant.
Keeping things fun at a bridal shower is all about having games and activities that will suit your bride and her guests and get them socializing. Whether you are inclined to have quizzes where guests can sit and mingle or more lively activities there is a game to suit every bridal shower.
All of the games detailed above can also be perfectly customized to suit a range of events including a baby shower or even a corporate function, with team building the key.

I hope you enjoyed it!  What games do you like to play at your baby and wedding showers?

    1. I'm glad you liked them! We did a quiz at one of my showers and it was perfect - it allowed people to mingle, chit chat, and snack, but provided some structure mid-way through.
